Parents stand up to Pearson and High-Stakes Testing
Parents across the country are starting to stand up to the Corporate Reformers who insist that high-stakes testing is the proper way to judge our children, teachers and schools. Parents are starting to see the lost instruction time and test preparation culture that is permeating our public schools. We cannot stand idle as creativity and critical thinking are lost. We cannot tolerate cuts to the arts, physical education, history and science so our kids can be prepped to score high on ELA and math exams.
Parents across New York State have said no to Pearson and NYSED's field tests. These field tests are a further waste of our children's time and education.
In New York City a large group of families said NO to Corporate Education Reform and the field tests today:
The opt-out movement is growing! Join up and organize in your area. The New York City field test protest was organized by the tremendous folks of Change the Stakes, Parent Voices NY and Time Out From Testing. Near Seattle a large group of parents opted out their children. You can do it too!
In Western New York a group of parents is organizing an advocacy group to end high-stakes testing. If you are interested, please contact me.
