How spending money on data systems and testing hurts our schools.

From the district in which I teach.

From my children's school district.

We are spending so much money on the required testing and data systems because of NLCB and RttT, along with federal/state school budget funding cuts and the tax cap, that schools are cutting teachers.  My kids have class sizes of 16 & 17-- perfect for a great start to elementary education.  Notice the Hamburg District in which I work will have average kindergarden class sizes of 22-23.  How can a K-teacher help 4 and 5 year olds with those numbers?
